Hiroshima is an American band formed in 1974 that blends jazz, R&B, pop, and
traditional Japanese music, incorporating instruments such as the koto and
shakuhachi. Founded by multi-instrumentalist Dan Kuramoto, who sought to create
a band representing Asian American identity, the group was named after the
Japanese city of Hiroshima. Their self-titled debut album sold more than 100,000
copies in its first three months, while their second album earned a Grammy
