Hiro is the mononym of Hiroko Shimabukuro, a Japanese singer and radio host. She was born on April 7, 1984, in Ginowan, Japan. She first gained prominence in 1996 as a member of the female vocal and dance group Speed, along with fellow Okinawa Actors School alumni Eriko Imai, Takako Uehara, and Hitoe Arakaki. Speed went on to become one of the most successful groups in the history of Japan, with sales of over 20 million singles and several albums throughout the course of their brief career.
