Henry Gray
Henry Gray, born January 19, 1925, in Kenner, Louisiana, was an American blues
pianist and singer. He began playing piano at age eight, influenced by local
music and radio. In the mid-1940s, he moved to Chicago where he caught the
attention of Big Maceo Merriweather. Gray's career took off in 1952 with his
first recording session for Jimmy Rogers. He became a prominent session musician
for Chess Records, working with artists such as Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf.
In 1968, Gray returned to Louisiana and continued performing at various
festivals across the United States and Europe....
