Paul D. Hudson, born 11 February 1956 in Liverpool, Merseyside, is a vocalist
and guitarist known professionally as H.R., who first gained attention as the
frontman of Washington, D.C.’s hardcore band Bad Brains. After moving to the
United States as a toddler, Paul D. Hudson entered the local music scene with
future bandmates Dr. Know and Darryl Jenifer, and his rapid‑fire vocal style
quickly became a defining element of the emerging hardcore punk movement. In
