Grupo Compay Segundo is a Cuban musical group formed in 2003 following the death
of its namesake, Compay Segundo. The group was founded by Salvador Repilado
Labrada, son of Compay Segundo, who continued a musical legacy. Compay Segundo
left the group Los Compadres in 1953 and later formed Compay Segundo y Sus
Muchachos in 1956. After a hiatus due to the Cuban Revolution, Compay Segundo
returned to music in the 1970s with Cuarteto Daiquiri (1970) and joined Cuarteto
