Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, an 18-piece jazz ensemble based in California,
was founded in 1999 by Gordon Goodwin. The band combines big band swing with
contemporary genres like funk and jazz fusion. Goodwin, who was working as a
composer for Warner Brothers cartoons at the time, formed the group after being
inspired by Count Basie's music at age 13. Their debut album, Swingin' For The
Fences, released in 2000, marked the first recording on DVD-Audio and earned two
Grammy nominations. Subsequent albums include XXL (2003), Bah, Humduck! A Looney
Tunes Christmas (2006), and Act ...
