Gogol Bordello is an American punk band formed in 1999 in New York City, led by
frontman Eugene Hütz who was born in 1975. The group emerged from the Lower East
Side scene, blending Romani, Ukrainian, and punk influences and incorporating
accordion and violin into their sound. Their first single, "When the Trickster
Starts a-Pokin'", appeared in 1999, followed by the EP East Infection in 2005,
which established their eclectic style. The band’s debut album Voi-La Intruder
was released in 1999, and they continued with Multi Kontra Culti vs. Irony
(2002), Gypsy Punks: Underdog World...
