Gina Chavez, born May 24, 1982, in Austin, Texas, is an American bilingual
Latin‑folk singer who began performing in 2004 and released her debut
independent album Hanging Spoons in 2007. After a live EP, Live at the Good
Music Club, in 2014, she funded her first studio album, Up.Rooted, via
Kickstarter, exceeding its $10 000 goal by raising $20 000, and released it on
digital music platforms, with physical copies on CD Baby. She received the title
