Georgie Auld, born John Altwerger on May 19, 1919, in Toronto, Canada, was a
jazz tenor saxophonist, clarinettist, and bandleader. He moved to Brooklyn, New
York, in 1929, and taught himself to play the alto saxophone before switching to
the tenor saxophone. Auld began his career working with notable artists such as
Bunny Berigan, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, and Erroll Garner. He led several big
bands, including Georgie Auld and His Orchestra. Auld's discography includes
