George Wettling
George Godfrey Wettling, born on November 28, 1907 in Topeka, Kansas, was an
American jazz drummer who began his musical journey in Chicago during his early
teens. He was deeply influenced by King Oliver's band and Baby Dodds' drumming
style. Wettling worked with several big bands including those led by Artie Shaw,
Bunny Berigan, Red Norvo, Paul Whiteman, and Chico Marx. However, he became best
known for his work with smaller ensembles led by Eddie Condon and Muggsy
