George Masso, born on November 17, 1926 in Cranston, Rhode Island, was an
American jazz trombonist, bandleader, vibraphonist, and composer. He initially
learned to play the trumpet but later expanded his skills to include other
instruments, inspired by Lou McGarity's performance on Benny Goodman's recording
of "Yours". Masso secured a two-year stint with Jimmy Dorsey’s band in the late
1940s before transitioning into music education due to financial difficulties.
