Eugene Salvatore Patrick DiNovi, known professionally as Gene DiNovi, is an
American jazz pianist and composer born on May 26, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York.
He began his musical career at thirteen, playing with Henry Jerome's band. In
the mid-1940s, he worked with notable musicians including Boyd Raeburn, Stan
Hasselgård, and Buddy DeFranco. DiNovi collaborated with Lester Young and Benny
Goodman. He moved to Los Angeles in the 1950s, accompanying artists like Peggy
