Gene Vincent De Paul, also known as Gene DePaul, born on June 17, 1919, in New
York City, was an American pianist, songwriter, and composer. He served in the
United States Army during World War II before joining ASCAP in 1941. De Paul's
early career included composing music for various motion pictures. Notable songs
include "I'll Remember April" (1941), "You Don't Know What Love Is" (1941), and
"Cow Cow Boogie (Cuma-Ti-Yi-Yi-Ay)" (1942). In 1953, he composed the hit song
"Teach Me Tonight" and contributed to the musical film Seven Brides for Seven
