Gary Miller, born Neville Goodall Williams on May 3, 1924, in Blackpool,
Lancashire, England, was an English popular music singer and actor whose career
spanned the 1950s and 1960s. After abandoning a football career, he began
touring UK variety circuits in 1953. His debut single, “The Yellow Rose of
Texas” (1955), reached number 13 on the UK Singles Chart. Over the next decade,
he released numerous singles and EPs, with his most successful track being
“Robin Hood” (1956), the theme to the television series The Adventures of Robin
