Furacão 2000, a production company and record label founded in Rio de Janeiro by
Rômulo Costa and Gilberto Guarani, emerged from the merger of Som 2000 and
Guarani 2000 in the 1970s and became a pivotal force in popularizing funk
carioca throughout Brazil during the 1990s. The group’s early efforts focused on
organizing soul, funk, and disco dance events, which laid the groundwork for its
subsequent studio work. In the late 1990s, Furacão 2000 released the compilation
27 Anos Nacional, followed by the series Tornado Muito Nervoso, Tornado Muito
Nervoso 2, and Tornado Muito Nervos...
