Freddy Randall
Freddy Randall, born on 6 May 1921 in Clapton, East London, United Kingdom, was
a British jazz trumpeter and bandleader. After leaving St. Louis Four in 1939,
he worked as a freelance musician and joined the bands of Johnny Dankworth and
Freddie Mirfield during World War II. In the mid-1940s, he led his own Dixieland
ensembles which included many famous trad jazz stars of the period. His career
paused from 1958 to 1963 due to health issues but resumed in the mid‑1960s.
Randall also notably collaborated with Sidney Bechet, Bud Freeman, and
Wild Bill Davison. He died on 18 May 1999...
