Frank Weir
Frank Weir, born on January 30, 1911, in London, was a British clarinettist and
jazz musician. He began his career as a saxophonist and orchestra leader,
gaining significant attention with his early recordings. In 1954, Frank Weir
reached Number 1 on the UK Singles Chart with Vera Lynn on their recording of
"My Son, My Son", which received positive reviews in Variety, Cash Box, and
Billboard. That same year, his version of "The Happy Wanderer" became one of the
most popular recordings, featuring his soprano saxophone solos between verses.
