Ferhat Tunç, born Ferhat Tunç Yoslun on March 14, 1964, in Babaocağı, Ovacık,
Tunceli, Turkey, is a singer and songwriter of Kurdish-Zaza origin. Raised in an
Alevi-Kurdish family, Tunç's musical talent emerged during his childhood,
influenced by the folk songs of his grandparents. In 1979, he moved to Germany
with his father, where he began learning German at a vocational school in
Rüsselsheim. His debut album Kızılırmak was released in West Germany in 1982.
