Fenix TX was formed in Houston, Texas, in 1995 by guitarist‑drummer Damon
DeLaPaz, guitarist‑vocalist Will Salazar, drummer Donnie Reyes, and vocalist
Carl Lockstedt; the lineup later added bassist Adam Lewis. The group first
released the EP G.B.O.H. in 1996 under the name Riverfenix, followed by the
full‑length Riverfenix in 1997 on Drive‑Thru Records. After a cease‑and‑desist
order forced a name change, the band signed with MCA Records and issued the
self‑titled Fenix TX on 13 July 1999, reaching Number 115 on the Billboard 200
