Concetta Gangi, known professionally as Farida, was born on September 26, 1946,
in Catania, Sicily. She began her career participating in various singing
contests under the pseudonym Ketty Gangi before gaining recognition at the
Festival degli Sconosciuti d'Ariccia in 1966. Farida achieved her initial
success with the singles "Io per lui" and "La voce del silenzio". In 1970, she
participated in Cantagiro with "Pensami stasera", which led to an invitation
from Czesław Niemen to perform at the Sopot International Music Festival. Farida
