Éric Mouquet was born on 19 March 1960 in Valenciennes, France, and became a
composer and electronic musician. After forming the duo Deep Forest with Michel
Sanchez in 1992, he mixed ethnic samples with electronic beats, producing the
single "Sweet Lullaby" that entered the UK Top 40. The self‑titled album Deep
Forest followed, earning a 1994 Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album. In
1995 the duo released Bohème, winning the 1996 Grammy for Best Global Music
Album and featuring "While the Earth Sleeps" with Peter Gabriel. Subsequent
