Eric Donaldson, born on June 11, 1947, in Kent Village, Bog Walk, Jamaica, is a
Jamaican reggae singer-songwriter. He first recorded for Studio One in 1964 and
later formed The West Indians with Leslie Burke and Hector Brooks, achieving a
hit with "Right on Time" in 1968. Donaldson's breakthrough came when he won the
1971 Jamaican Festival Song Competition with "Cherry Oh Baby", which became a
major hit. He went on to win the competition five more times, in 1977, 1978,
