Ensemble intercontemporain is a Paris-based chamber orchestra founded in 1976 by
Pierre Boulez with the support of Michel Guy and Nicholas Snowman. Dedicated to
the interpretation and promotion of contemporary music, the ensemble has worked
closely with composers to develop new instrumental techniques and
interdisciplinary projects. Under musical directors including Susanna Mälkki
(2006–2012) and Matthias Pintscher (2013–2023), it commissions new works
