José Alfredo Rios Meza, aka El Komander, is a Mexican singer and songwriter
known on the international stage as a proponent of narcocorridos, a sub genre of
banda that mines the stories of Mexico's drug lords for material.
Born in Sinaloa, Culiacan, Meza received a formal musical education in cancion,
