Edson Gomes, born on July 3, 1955, in Cachoeira, is a Brazilian singer and
composer. His musical style is deeply influenced by roots reggae artists such as
Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Alpha Blondy. In 1999, he released the album
Apocalipse and the single Samarina, which showcased his style as engaged roots
reggae. In 2001, he independently released his debut album, Acorde, Levante,
Lute. He recorded his first live album and DVD in Salvador, Bahia, in 2005.
