Leonel Edmundo Rivero, born on June 8, 1911, in Valentín Alsina, Buenos Aires
Province, Argentina, was a tango singer and composer. He learned classical
guitar and trained as a singer, developing a deep bass-baritone voice. Rivero
began his career singing in small venues and made his radio debut with a duet on
Radio Cultura. In 1935, he joined Julio De Caro’s orchestra, gaining fame. He
later collaborated with Aníbal Troilo during a three-year stint starting in
