Eddie Kirkland
Eddie Kirkland was born on 16 August 1923 in Kingston, Jamaica, and grew up in
Dothan, Alabama, before relocating to Detroit after World War II; he was a
guitarist, harmonicist, singer, and songwriter. Kirkland’s breakthrough came in
1949 when he joined John Lee Hooker as a second guitarist, recording with Hooker
through 1962. After parting with Hooker, he recorded solo material for Telarc
Blues and Blue Suit Records, releasing Lonely Street (1997), Democrat Blues
