Far less well known than Nigeria's Fela Kuti, Ghana's Ebo Taylor is a major
figure in highlife, closely inspired by Afrobeat. Born Delroy Taylor in Cape
Coast on January 6, 1936, the singer, guitarist and songwriter first fronted
several local bands, before moving to London in 1962 to front the Black Star
Highlife Band. Back in Ghana, Ebo Taylor produced and composed for local stars
C. K. Mann and Pat Thomas. A late discovery in the West, Ebo Taylor released his
