Duo Ouro Negro
Duo Ouro Negro were an Angolan musical ensemble active between 1956 and 1985.
The group was established by Raúl Indipwo and Milo MacMahon and originally
included José Alves Monteiro. They achieved professional recognition for a
musical style centered on Angolan folklore and for introducing kwela music to
Europe. Their recording career began with the extended play Muxima (1959). In
1962, they released an extended play featuring the track "Mãe Preta", which was
banned by censorship for addressing slavery. They achieved professional
