Duncan Hopkins, born September 21, 1967, in Coventry, United Kingdom, was a
British composer and bass player. He began his musical education at Pattison
College, where his mother taught music. In 1971, his family moved to St.
Catharines, Ontario, Canada, where he completed his studies at Brock University.
After earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hopkins moved to
Montreal to study with bassist Michel Donato. He later attended the Banff School
of Fine Arts, learning from Rufus Reid, Kenny Wheeler, and Steve Coleman. In
