War was formed in Newport, Wales in 1993 by guitarist Jeff Rose, bassist Richie
Glover, drummer Martin Ford, and reggae sound system vocalist Benji Webbe. The
band made their debut at the end of 1993 with a self-titled EP, which was
followed by a debut mini-album in 1994. They signed to Earache Records and
released the Mental EP, with remixes from Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, and
