Drive was an American heavy metal band from Houston, Texas, formed in the
mid-1980s by guitarist Rick Chavez. The band moved to Los Angeles and gained
early recognition after winning a KNAC radio contest with their song "I Need The
Nights", which led to their inclusion on the 1987 compilation 10 Best From the
West released by Rampage Records. Their debut album, Characters in Time, was
