Douglas Boyd, born in 1959, in Glasgow, Scotland, is a British oboist and
conductor. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music under Janet Craxton and
later with Maurice Bourgue in Paris. In 1984, Douglas Boyd won the Young Concert
Artists International Auditions, debuting at Carnegie Hall. As an oboist, he was
a founding member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and served as its principal
