David Peña Dorantes, known artistically as Dorantes, was born on September 11,
1969, in Lebrija, Seville, Spain. He is a Romani pianist and composer from a
family deeply rooted in flamenco. Dorantes started playing the guitar before
switching to piano at age ten, studying at the Real Conservatory of Music. His
breakthrough came with Orobroy (1998), which received critical acclaim. Dorantes
notably won three Giraldillo awards at the Seville Flamenco Biennial for a
