Dora María Pérez Vidal, born August 30, 1933 in Tamulté de las Barrancas, Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico, was a celebrated Mexican singer known by her stage name Dora María and her nickname La Chaparrita de Oro. At nine years old, she won a local singing contest in Tabasco and later won a competition broadcast on the radio station XEB, launching her professional career.
