Donald Ray Walser, also known as Don Walser, born on September 14, 1934, in
Brownfield, Texas, was an American country music singer. He formed his first
band, The Panhandle Playboys, at 16 and shared bills with Buddy Holly. Walser
worked as a mechanic and auditor for the National Guard while maintaining a
musical career. In 1984, he moved to Austin and formed the Pure Texas Band,
gaining local recognition. He was discovered by musician TJ McFarland in 1990
and opened for Johnny Cash in 1996. He released several albums, including
