Don Julian was an American R&B, funk, and soul singer, guitarist, and
songwriter. In his teens, Julian moved to Los Angeles and performed with local
bands. A breakthrough occurred in 1954 with the debut single “Heaven and
Paradise” (1955) by Don Julian and the Meadowlarks, which became popular with
R&B fans. Under the name The Larks, the group released “The Jerk” (1964), which
reached Number 1 on both the Billboard R&B and Cash Box R&B charts and peaked at
