DJ Screw
Robert Earl Davis, Jr., known by his stage name DJ Screw, was born on July 20,
1971, in Smithville, Texas. He began his career as a DJ at age 12 in 1983 and
started creating slowed-down mixes in 1990, which became his signature style. In
late 1991 and early 1992, he produced these mixes for friends and later sold
them commercially. Davis formed the Screwed Up Click (S.U.C.), a collective of
Houston MCs including Lil KeKe, Big Hawk, and Fat Pat. He later signed with
Russell Washington's BigTyme Recordz in the mid-1990s and opened Screwed Up
