Dizzy Gillespie Big Band

The Dizzy Gillespie Big Band, led by American jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, was active from 1946 to 1950 and from 1956 to 1962. The band's origins trace back to Gillespie's tenure with Billy Eckstine and His Orchestra. In mid-1945, Gillespie attempted his first big band venture but faced internal conflict. The following year, Gillespie reformed the band with help from Gil Fuller, who arranged compositions including "A Night in Tunisia" (1942) and "Things to Come".
