Dillwyn Owen Paton "Dill" Jones, born on August 19, 1923, in Newcastle Emlyn,
Carmarthenshire, Wales, was a Welsh jazz stride pianist. He began playing piano
at a young age and developed an interest in jazz at age ten after hearing
records by Fats Waller and Bix Beiderbecke. After serving in the Royal Navy
during World War II, he joined musical groups before becoming a ship's pianist
on the Queen Mary. He formed the Dill Jones Quartet in 1959 and emigrated to the
United States in 1961. In New York City, he took lessons from Luckey Roberts and
collaborated with notable musicians. ...
