Richard William Curless, also known as Dick Curless, born on March 17, 1932, in
Fort Fairfield, Maine, was an American-Canadian country music singer and
guitarist known for his extensive vocal range, trademark eye patch, and songs
about life on the road. He began his career in 1948, hosting a radio show and
touring with the Trail Blazers band. Curless' breakthrough came in 1965 with the
hit single "A Tombstone Every Mile", which reached number 5 on the Billboard
