Dessa
Margaret Wander, known professionally as Dessa, was born on May 23, 1981. She is
an American singer, rapper, musician, writer, and former record executive.
Before her music career, Wander earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from
the University of Minnesota. Dessa's breakthrough came when she joined the indie
hip-hop group Doomtree, with whom she began touring in 2005. Her first solo EP,
False Hopes, was released in 2005 and received critical acclaim. In 2010, Dessa
