Desert Rose Band
The Desert Rose Band, a country rock band from Los Angeles, California, was
formed in 1985 by Chris Hillman, a former member of The Byrds, with Herb
Pedersen and John Jorgenson. The group combined country rock and progressive
country, with Hillman on lead vocals and guitar, Pedersen on guitars and vocals,
and Jorgenson on guitars and vocals, supported by Bill Bryson on bass, JayDee
Maness on pedal steel, and Steve Duncan on drums. Their debut album, The Desert
Rose Band, was released in 1987 by MCA/Curb and yielded the hit single "Ashes of
