László Dés, born on January 9, 1954 in Budapest, Hungary, is a Hungarian jazz
musician and composer. He studied at the Zoltán Kodály Music School, followed by
piano studies, and later focused on clarinet and saxophone at the Béla Bartók
Conservatory and the Budapest Music Academy. In 1978, Dés founded the group
Dimenzió, releasing three albums. He collaborated with Ferenc Snétberger and
Kornél Horváth in the Trio Stendhal, performing extensively in Europe and India.
From 1998 to 2000, he led Jazz+Az, which included his son András Dés. In 2003,
he founded the Dés Sextet.
