Demetrius
Demétrius, the stage name of Demétrio Zahra Netto, was a Brazilian singer and
composer born in Rio de Janeiro on March 28, 1942. He began recording in 1959
and rose to prominence in 1961 with the Portuguese-language version of "Corina,
Corina." Soon after, he released "Rock do Saci," regarded as the first genuinely
Brazilian rock song. His biggest success came in 1964 with "O Ritmo da Chuva," a
Portuguese adaptation of "Rhythm of the Rain" by the Cascades. His albums
