Del Rey
Del Rey is an American instrumental post-rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois
in 1997 by guitarists Eben English and Damien Burke, who later added drummer
Michael Johnson in 1998, multi-instrumentalist Jason Ward in 2001, and bassist
Chris Cowgill in 2003. The band's debut release was the EP DLRY (1999), followed
by their debut studio album, Speak It Not Aloud (2001), on My Pal God Records.
Their melodic blending of jazz and alternative rock drew comparisons to Chicago
contemporaries Tortoise. The group followed this with Darkness & Distance (2003)
