Claudia Ogalde, known professionally as Deetah, was born on February 29, 1976,
in Chile. She moved to Stockholm at age six when her family fled the country's
political turmoil. Deetah began her music career in the mid-1990s with the group
Goldmine and later gained recognition through collaborations with notable
artists such as Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Ophélie Winter. Her
stage name is a shortening of a childhood nickname, "Claudita." Deetah's
breakthrough came with her debut solo album Deadly Cha Cha, released in 1999.
