David Seville
David Seville is a fictional character, the adoptive father, producer, and
manager of Alvin and the Chipmunks, created by Ross Bagdasarian. Bagdasarian had
used the name "David Seville" as a stage name for songwriting in the 1950s, and
one of the records made under that name, "Witch Doctor" (1958), introduced a
sped-up, high-pitched vocal technique that Bagdasarian later reused in "The
Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)", the release that introduced both Alvin
and the Chipmunks and the character of Dave. Bagdasarian went on to create The
Alvin Show, voicing David Seville him...
