David Gilmore (born February 5, 1964) was an American jazz and jazz fusion
guitarist from Cambridge, Massachusetts. Gilmore studied at New York University
with Joe Lovano and Jim McNeely before beginning his professional career in 1987
with the M-Base Collective and Ronald Shannon Jackson. In the 1990s, he was a
member of the fusion group Lost Tribe and joined Wayne Shorter’s band in 1995.
Gilmore released his debut album as a leader, Ritualism, in 2000, featuring his
