David Allyn
David Allyn, born Albert DiLello on 19 July 1923 in Hartford, Connecticut, was
an American jazz vocalist. Early recordings appeared with Jack Teagarden’s Big
Band (1940‑42) and Lyle Griffin’s studio orchestra (1945), while his first solo
sessions featured an ensemble that included Lucky Thompson. In 1984, he released
A Sure Thing - David Allyn Sings Jerome Kern on World Pacific Records, a project
that showcased his interpretations of Kern classics. Allyn collaborated with
Johnny Richards, Johnny Mandel, Stan Kenton, and Count Basie, and issued the duo
